933 MHz Intel LV Pentium III: New Processor for Communications Devices

Intel today announced a new energy efficient 933 MHz Low Voltage Pentium III processor for embedded systems and communications. The new chip is made in a µFCBGA package and is intended for use with the NetStructure ZT 5524 System Master Processor Board, which is designed for single or dual-processor configurations. ZT 5524 is PCI Industrial Manufacturers Group (PICMG) compliant 2.16 for packet switching devices and is designed to work as part of telecommunication servers, broadband access servers of switches and controllers of mobile base stations.
The maximum power dissipated by the new 933 MHz Low Voltage Pentium III processor does not exceed 12.2 W. The new chip is equipped with 512 KB L2 cache and supports 133 MHz system bus.

The cost of a 933 MHz Low Voltage Pentium III processor in bulk is $ 273, the cost of an Intel ZT 5524 board is $ 2695.
