All 8 pipelines work in the chip, the chip / memory frequency is 325/620 MHz. There is nothing to redo, the only thing that can be done with them is to overclock.
RADEON 9700: boards are also produced with only 128 MB of memory, the design slightly differs from the reference RADEON 9700 Pro, although there are also boards with the RADEON 9700 Pro design. Boards based on RADEON 9700 have lower frequencies, 275/540 MHz, overclocking can be easily removed by flashing a cracked BIOS. Overclocked frequencies are slightly lower than those of the RADEON 9700 Pro.
RADEON 9500 Pro: motherboards are made of their own design and have a 128-bit memory bus. So far, only 128 MB versions are released. The memory on these cards has a two-bank organization, as, for example, on the NVIDIA GeForce Ti4600, and there is no way to convert the memory bus to 256-bit on the RADEON 9500 Pro. The chips on these boards have 8 working pipelines, so there is nothing to redo on these boards. Chip / memory frequencies on RADEON 9500 Pro 275/540 MHz. Overclocking is locked, but the lock is removed by flashing the cracked BIOS.
RADEON 9500 128MB: all motherboards on the RADEON 9500 base are designed by the RADEON 9700. 128 MB variants of the RADEON 9500 have a 256-bit bus, since they have all 8 memory chips installed – exactly as they are on the RADEON 9700. But they are perfectly used by the BIOS from the RADEON 9700, which needs to be loaded into the converted motherboard.
RADEON 9500 64MB: boards are also still manufactured on the RADEON 9700 design, but only half of the memory chips are installed on them, therefore 64 MB boards based on the RADEON 9500 have a 128-bit bus, and it is impossible to convert it into a 256-bit one. These cards are equipped with RADEON 9500 chips, they have only 4 pipelines. Enabling 8 pipelines physically – by soldering a resistor – is not a question, but you still need to make the BIOS understand all 8 pipelines. So far, no BIOS suitable for such a modification has been found, theoretically, if everything works out, these boards will turn into something like the RADEON 9500 Pro: 8 pixel pipelines and a 128-bit bus. But, unlike the RADEON 9500 Pro, these cards will have a non-2-bank memory organization, and its volume, accordingly, will be only 64 MB.
