LinuxWorld: Revisiting PDA Reference Platforms from IBM and AMD

Despite the fact that in our news of the past week there have already appeared messages about the basic developments shown at the LinuxWorld exhibition for the release of PDA on processors from IBM and AMD, I would like to return to this topic once again, if only to show photos of these platforms. and also provide more detailed specifications.

IBM’s Linux / Java PDA reference design is called e-LAP (embedded Linux application platform). Here are its more detailed characteristics:

  • Processor: 0.18 μm process technology, 32-bit IBM PowerPC 405LP (RISC), dynamically variable clock frequency from 152 to 380 MHz, with integrated interfaces SDRAM / RAM / ROM / Flash, DMA and interrupts, power management, LCD display ( 1/4 VGA to XGA), touchscreen, dual 16550 serial ports, IIC
  • Memory: 32MB SDRAM, 32MB Flash (NOR)
  • Storage: 64 MB M-Systems DiskOnChip Flash
  • 4-inch 240 x 320 LCD color display
  • Protection and security chip: TCPA
  • Built-in stereo system, audio input and output
  • Built-in power supply unit
  • Built-in microphone to support speech input
  • SDIO slot
  • USB interfaces 1.1, 10/100 Ethernet, serial, 8- or 16-bit PCMCIA
  • Mini joystick for navigation
  • 4 programmable input buttons
  • Battery: Li-Ion, 1700 mAh
  • Bluetooth interface 1.1: via Toshiba SDIO card
  • Xilinx XCR3128XL FPGA Programmable Chip: 128 Macrocells, 3000 Positions
