RADEON 9500 64MB in RADEON 9500 PRO – software!

Every day – fresh details about the options for remaking RADEON 9500 chips. However, today’s news is completely stunning: the rework of the RADEON 9500 64MB into the RADEON 9500 PRO 64MB was implemented in software! However, I will not retell and give the floor to our editor of the video section Andrei Vorobyov:

“… Despite the fact that colleagues from the Overclockers website.ru found a way to rewire RADEON 9500 128MB into RADEON 9700 by re-soldering the resistor, RivaTuner author Alexei Nikolaychuk (aka Unwinder) and I did not give up hope for software reworking of the cards. The essence of the idea is to find 4 rendering pipelines hidden by ATI developers in the chip, of which the R9500 has 4, and the R9700 has 8.

Alexey was able to find this protection and bypass it using RADEON 9500 64MB. You understand that this card has a 128-bit bus, so the R9700 will not work out of it, and the result is a RADEON 9500 PRO 64MB. We tested the Soft9700 on the RADEON 9500 128MB as well, and we are happy to say that it turned out to be a full-fledged RADEON 9700.

Thus, we can already speak 100% about the software cut of the R300 core. In the next version of RivaTuner this transformation method will be available to everyone … “

It only remains for me to add that the new article, which will be presented on our website in the very next few hours, will contain all the details about these experiments. So stay tuned for the announcements…
