Sharp Aquos Pad SHG Review
Platform Conference Taipei: SiS graphics chips with DirectX9 support
At this week’s Platform Conference Taipei, SiS revealed some details about the next generation of its graphics chips.
So, the new graphics processors, previously known under the collective name XabreII, will be the SiS340 and SiS341 chips. Unlike the most productive chip of the previous SiS Xabre600 series, with a clock speed of 300 MHz, support for DirectX8 and DDR-I memory, the new eight-pipe AGP 8X top-end SiS340 chip will operate at 375 MHz, support DDR-II memory with a clock frequency up to 500 MHz (1000 MHz DDR) and DirectX9.
The only currently known difference between the SiS341 chip, which is classified as a mid-range GPU, is its four pipelines.
Unfortunately, the release dates for the new SiS340 and SiS341 chips are still very vague. It is only known that they will be announced this year, but there are no more exact dates yet.
