Mitsubishi Electric sells its DRAM division to Elpida

Japanese media reported that Mitsubishi Electric is in the final stages of negotiations with Hitachi and NEC to sell its DRAM division to the merged Hitachi-NEC company. According to Japanese newspapers, the deal should be completed by April next year.

Hitachi and NEC’s joint venture, Elpida Memory, was founded in December 1999. The purchase of the Mitsubishi division, according to Nihon Keizai Shimbun, will cost Elpida in the amount of $ 16.2 million. up to $ 24.3.

If the deal is successful, Elpida will rank fourth in the global DRAM market and possibly overtake Infineon.
