New processors: what Intel is preparing for the day ahead…
We have already reported that according to some reports, today Intel is planning to announce new mobile Intel Pentium 4-M processors with a clock frequency of 2.2 GHz (see. (news 2.2 GHz Intel Pentium 4-M processor – on Monday). It is quite possible that new mobile Celeron processors will also join them (at least some of the participants in our conference think so). However, an equally interesting fact (and in the future, perhaps more interesting for many readers) is the fact that a 2.0 GHz Celeron processor appeared in the windows of Japanese stores last weekend, which has not yet been announced by anyone.
About a month ago, we wrote with reference to Taiwanese sources that Intel is allegedly preparing the release of a 1.9 GHz version of the Celeron processor in Socket 478 for September, however, there has been no speech about the 2 GHz model yet. By the way, in Japan, the processor itself is only shown, but not yet sold. Motivation: “sales will begin after the official announcement of the chip”. Does it follow that the announcement of new 1.9 GHz / 2.0 GHz models is just around the corner?? It’s hard to say, and there are no “leaks” on this topic on the Internet yet.
A few words about the chips shown in Japan. 2.0 GHz Celeron processors have so far appeared in the OEM version (just like the original 1.7 GHz / 1.8 GHz models for Socket 478) are labeled 2 GHZ / 128/400/1.525v SL6HY MALAY, estimated chip price – 13,500 yen (about $ 112).
I think now you shouldn’t guess on the coffee grounds and collect rumors. Perhaps some of the questions will disappear by themselves tonight.
