AMD Barton 2500+: first test results

At the suggestion of our good friend cho from the GZeasy website (cho!) it turned out that on the OC website.com.tw, which by some miracle got hold of an engineering sample of an Athlon XP processor with a Barton core, that is, with 166 MHz FSB support and 512 KB L2 cache – AMD Barton 2500+, the results of its testing appeared. Let’s try to briefly introduce you to the resulting data.

First – about the processor itself. We published the first photos of this particular chip in the news for November 25 (see. Photo by AMD Barton).

A few words about chip marking. AXDA1833DKT4D, according to AMD’s classification of chips, means: Athlon XP (AXD) with Thoroughbred core, A – for desktop PCs, clocked at 1833 MHz, D – OPGA package, K – 1.65 V core supply voltage, T – upper temperature limit at + 90 ° C, 4 – 512 KB L2 cache, the last letter D in the marking means FSB 333 MHz. Indeed, a real AMD Barton, with 512 KB of L2 cache and 333 MHz FSB support. In order to make sure that the physical dimensions of the crystal have really increased due to the increased cache, the site shows such photos, where chips with Palomino, Thoroughbred B and Barton cores are lined up, and below – in more detail Thoroughbred B and Barton:
