Intel will increase investments in China and Russia
At a meeting with Indian business circles yesterday in New Delhi, India, Intel CEO Craig Barrett elaborated on the company’s investment prospects. It was interesting to know that Intel intends to significantly increase investments in China and Russia in the near future.
Craig Barrett noted that Intel intends to increase investments in the development of its research and production units in Ireland, Israel and India, however, “China and Russia will be the objects of the most close attention of the company in the coming years.”. However, as Mr. Barrett stressed, investments in these countries will not exceed the weight of Intel’s assets in the United States, Malaysia and other countries.
Unfortunately (apparently due to the location of the current summit), the Intel CEO’s speech contained specific amounts related only to investments in India. Also, Mr. Barrett stressed that the investment will be made without regard to the current market difficulties; expansion of engineering and manufacturing operations in China and engineering base in Russia will be carried out according to the previously outlined plan. Let’s hope that Intel’s more detailed announcements about its Russian operations will be made at the Moscow Intel Developer Forum, which is just over a month away.
