M-Systems and Toshiba prepare for mass production of flash drives
Toshiba and M-Systems (Flash Disk Pioneers) announce an agreement to jointly market flash disk memory chips, in particular the 16MB Millenium Plus chip.
This product is built using Toshiba’s NAND Flash memory and M-Systems DiskOnChip technology, which describes the electronics and protocols that allow the flash memory to be used exactly as if it were a hard drive. M-Systems agreement guarantees production at Toshiba factories.
The start of mass production of DiskOnChip Millennium Plus 16-MB chips is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2021.
