Intel mobile chips change stepping

A document has appeared on the Intel website announcing a stepping change in 0.13 micron of the company’s mobile processors.

So, in early April, the first samples of Pentium 4-M and Mobile Celeron chips with the new D-1 stepping will be presented, instead of the previous C-1. Mass shipments of chips with new chapping will start at the beginning of June.

The changes affected Pentium 4-M processors with a clock speed of 2.50 GHz, 2.40 GHz, 2.20 GHz, 2.00 GHz, 1.90 GHz and 1.80 GHz, as well as Mobile Celeron processors with frequencies of 2.20 GHz, 2.00 GHz, 1.80 GHz and 1.70 GHz.

New stepping chips also changed their CPUID from 0F27h to 0F29h. No changes in the appearance of the chips of the new stepping have occurred, the same arrangement of capacitors has been preserved. The new stepping chips are fully compatible with the old C-1 version, however, they have similar or improved noise immunity.
