Agere leaves the WLAN adapter market

As recently as yesterday, we reported on the emerging situation in the market of devices for wireless communication, where Intel is going to deploy, and in continuation of this topic we announce that today a representative of Agere announced that the OEM company is phasing out WLAN adapters.

The company’s OEM customers were IBM, Dell and Sony. After the end of the production of adapters, Agere plans to focus on the sale of chips for wireless solutions and increase their sales among the firms with which the company previously competed in the OEM market.

The segment of the market vacated by Agere has already been targeted by several Taiwanese companies and will have to present their developments to potential OEM customers in the fourth quarter.
