Cadence vs. Mentor Graphics: don’t juggle the facts, gentlemen!
We occasionally inform our readers about litigation by well-known companies, mostly related to allegations of infringement of the rights to own and use patents. But yesterday, Cadence Design Systems filed a rather unusual lawsuit against Mentor Graphics and Aptix, accusing the latter of dishonest business practices. Cadence’s accusation against Mentor comes after the company was subjected to a massive attack of lawsuits by Mentor, containing allegations of unauthorized use of chip emulation technologies.
In addition, Cadence plans to seek compensation for losses incurred by the company in 2000, when Aptix’s CEO was found guilty of fraud and falsification by court decision. Cadence’s current lawsuit uses the events of 2000 as a starting point against “companies dishonestly using the judiciary to compete”.
