On the transformation of RADEON 9500 into RADEON 9700
Overclockers site experimenters.ru shared the results of research on a 128 MB video card from Sapphire based on the ATI RADEON 9500 chip, as a result of which they managed to turn it into… RADEON 9700 card!
Video cards based on ATI RADEON 9500 have a 128-bit or 256-bit bus depending on the amount of video memory. Since these motherboards are made on PCBs from RADEON 9700, 64-MB variants with exactly half of the chips have exactly “halved” memory bus from RADEON 9700, that is, 128-bit. But 128 MB motherboards with 8 memory chips installed in the same way as on the RADEON 9700 have a “full” 256-bit memory bus.
