Wavecom announces the release of a quad-band GSM / GPRS module

Wavecom Wireless Integrated Modules Announces Quad-band GSM / GPRS Module.

The Wavecom WISMO adapter operates in the 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz frequency bands and should be available from the beginning of next year.

The 850 MHz frequency band, recently opened to GSM / GPRS, allows GSM operators to take advantage of other technologies (AMPS and TDMA, although presumably this means taking advantage of existing networks) to consolidate the success of GSM / GPRS and lay the foundation for networks second and a half generation.
