Hot Chips Symposium – Tomorrow: Presentations from Intel, AMD, Broadcom and Others…

According to preliminary data, the traditional annual Hot Chips seminar, which will be held next week at Stanford University, will be marked by a series of interesting talks about the specifications of McKinley and Hammer chips.
Unlike the acclaimed Microprocessor Forum, which is held twice a year, Hot Chips is held once a year and includes talks from university authors along with speeches from industry leaders. The Hot Chips Symposium, now in its fourteenth year, highlights trends in nearly all computing applications. Forum sessions are divided into the following groups: network processors, system interconnectivity, systems-in-a-chip, integrated applications, DSP.

This year’s Hot Chips symposium is combined with another annual industry event, the Hot Interconnects Forum, which looks at the development of systems and chips for wired and wireless networks.

The conference kicks off on Monday with a presentation by Intel and Hewlett-Packard on the McKinley processor and ends with a presentation from AMD on The AMD Hammer processor core and Hammer shared memory multi processor systems. Hammer with shared memory “).

One of the highlights of the planned program of the Hot Chips symposium, according to the program presented by the organizers, will be the presentation of “distributed DSP architecture” from Intel.

Other interesting presentations are expected at the symposium: a report from the developers of their Carnegie Mellon University on PipeRench technology, self-controlled dynamic information channels with automatic restructuring; a report from a development team directly from Stanford University on the development of 0.13 micron CMOS chips to provide serial data transmission channels with a bandwidth of up to 20 Gbps; an in-depth discussion of hardware cryptographic systems based on the IBM zSeries processor family; public debut of the Atheros 108Mbps wireless LAN chipset; the aforementioned presentation of Intel’s distributed DSP architecture. The second session of the forum will be devoted to the presentation of representatives of Broadcom. They will present the new DSP core Firepath. In addition, Broadcom will also unveil Calisto’s versatile multi-channel communications platform.
