Two new VGA-resolution CMOS sensors from Micron

Micron Technology today announced the beginning of supply of samples of new cost-effective CMOS sensors MI-0343 with VGA resolution, as well as chips MI-SOC-0343 with integrated CMOS VGA matrices. New products are presented at the 3GSM World Congress, which opened today in Cannes, France.

1/4-inch CMOS sensors MI-0343 and integrated chips MI-SOC-0343 have a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 (VGA), a dot size of 5.6 microns, an image size of 3.584 x 2.668 mm, while MI-0343 sensors consume about 40 mW when shooting at 15 frames per second, integrated chips – no more than 85 mW. Both solutions are designed for use in modern mobile devices, can be programmed to output images in QVGA, QQVGA, CIF and QCIF formats, with progressive scan and up to 30 frames per second. The integrated chip, which includes the actual CMOS sensor and the Image Flow Processor (IFP), can be programmed to output a signal in 8-bit CCIR 656 (YCrCb) or 565-RGB format, and also has the ability to customize the displayed image: chromaticity, contrast, color correction, sharpness, automatic switching between scanning modes (50/60 Hz), etc.P.
