MOBILITY RADEON 7000 IGP, new integrated mobile chipset from ATI
ATI Technologies Introduces MOBILITY RADEON 7000 IGP Integrated Chipset for Mobile Systems Based on Intel Pentium-M Processors. Of course, laptops based on this chipset will not be able to wear the Centrino logo (as you know, this is the privilege of systems based on processors, chipsets and wireless components exclusively from Intel), however, it is quite possible that due to the price they will be able to occupy a certain part of this market.
In addition to supporting the standard 400 MHz system bus for Intel Pentium-M processors, the MOBILITY RADEON 7000 IGP chipset is also compatible with 533 MHz FSB, which allows it to be used with Intel Pentium 4 processors in desktop and desktop replacement class notebooks. Chipset supports Hyper-Threading technology, up to 4GB DDR333 memory.
The new chipset of the RADEON IGP family has a 64-bit architecture, an integrated graphics core with support for the energy-saving POWERPLAY technology and the AGP 4X bus. In addition, it supports Fast Z-Clear 3D rendering technology, iDCT technology for optimizing DVD quality, outputs two CRT or DVI-I displays, TV-out, etc. The chipset is made in a 596-pin BGA package with dimensions of 35 x 35 mm, backward compatible with the RADEON IGP 340M chipset. In addition, there will be a compact version in a 718-pin BGA package measuring 31 x 31mm. The company has already published a list of SO-DIMM memory modules compatible with the new chipset, including products from Infineon, Samsung, Nanya and Micron.
