Major Challenges Facing 157nm Lithography Overcome
In any case, this is the opinion of the experts who gathered at the third International Symposium on 157-nm lithography that took place recently in Belgium. According to Tony Yen, co-chair of the symposium and director of the SEMATECH Lithography Center (ISMT), the development of lenses for the first generation 157nm equipment has been completed and the manufacturers confirm their readiness to begin shipping 157nm scanners by 2021. It is also reported that a solution to the problem of birefringence in calcium fluoride has been found and photoresist materials have been prepared.
The symposium was organized by IMEC and the international organization SEMATECH in collaboration with the Japanese consortium of SELETE chips. The fourth symposium on 157nm lithography will take place in Yokohama in August 2021.
