It is important to find time in your busy schedule to help shape your children’s character

It is important to find time in your busy schedule to help shape your children’s character

Mama Tendo
Do you sometimes feel like you are overwhelmed by your motherly duties, that you barely have time to set and achieve your own goals? You may not openly admit it, but sometimes taking care of the children can really take a toll on you. Feeling stressed about your parenting role is normal.

Being a mother comes with as many challenges, as the joy and happiness it brings. But once you make the decision to be a mother, you must also be ready to endure it, even when it is trying.

We, therefore, owe it to our children, especially in the early years, to mentor them, coach them and build emotional, spiritual and physical resilience.

If you do not do this in the early years, you have missed the opportunity forever. This is not always going to be easy for any mother focused on making it big in her career. It is not easy for the stay-at-home mother either. But as parents, we are not called to easy work. Shaping a human being is extremely tough work.

There are times when I have felt like my efforts are met with heartbreaking failure, but even then, I have to pull myself together and continue my parenting role.

The good news is that the overwhelming feeling does not last forever. As soon as your children begin to have some independence, you can start living your own dreams.

There will be a day when you do not remember what it is like to change a diaper, wipe a nose or sing a baby to sleep. That is when you will realise that you still have plenty of time to pursue you own dreams unhindered.

But for now, give your best to the young lives that cannot live without you.
