Kiyingi lawyer’s appeal rejected

THE High Court has rejected an application in which a defence lawyer, Joseph Zagyenda, had sought orders compelling Dr. Aggrey Kiyingi to pay him sh76m as costs. The civil division deputy registrar, Isaac Muwata, on Monday said Zagyenda’s application was premature because the appeal in which the Director of Public Prosecutions is challenging Kiyingi’s acquittal had not been heard.

However, Zagyenda recently filed an appeal seeking to reverse the ruling, saying that the reasons Muwata gave were not satisfactory.

Police conclude national training
The Police has concluded a countrywide training of its officers. Alinitwe Katurebe, a Police official, said the exercise was aimed at ascertaining the strength and weaknesses of the Force.
